Ethiopean Airlines to Supply Nigeria Eagle Long Haul Aircrafts

Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa) will reportedly partner Nigeria's new national carrier, Nigerian Eagle (NG, Lagos), providing it with an unspecified number of long-haul aircraft while it awaits delivery of Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) aircraft, Nigerian paper, ThisDay, has claimed. Abuja was reported as having been in talks with Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Int'l) over a possible partnership in the venture. However, quoting unnamed sources, Arik Air (W3, Lagos) could also be roped into the new airline though this is contingent on an agreement being reached between the airline and the federal government in January at a planned retreat to discuss the future of aviation in Nigeria. In terms of operational aircraft, Embraer (São José dos Campos) will supply the carrier with eight unspecified jets. Given government's 100% shareholding in defunct Air Nigeria (VK, Lagos) via the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), two ex-Air Nigeria EMB-190s, 5N-VNH (cn 19000210) & 5N-VNI (cn 19000226), currently parked in Lagos, will be also be incorporated into the airline's fleet. The core of Nigerian Eagle will centre around Aero Contractors (NG, Lagos) and Air Nigeria with the former's fleet already seeing a partial transition into Nigerian Eagle's fleet
